The Club
Welcome to the Melbourne University Liberal Club - Australia's oldest Liberal Club!
About the Club
For over 80 years, the Melbourne University Liberal Club has dedicated itself to the promotion of liberal and conservative ideas on campus and in public discussion, allowing like-minded students to come together to debate, socialize and engage in liberal activism.
The MULC alumni include key figures in federal and state politics, the private sector, academia and other areas of public life.
The Melbourne University Liberal Club meets weekly to debate current affairs in a semi-formal environment and holds regular social events - from casual drinks on a Monday afternoon to formal dinners throughout the year.
We encourage you to explore this website and learn more about us, what we do and what we stand for. We have something for everyone.
Come along, get involved and become apart of 84 years of MULC tradition!
Our Beliefs
The Melbourne University Liberal Club places an immense importance on its intellectual heritage:
- We believe in the free market, and that free enterprise is the best creator of wealth, employment and opportunity,
- We believe that government should be small, and its scope for interference in our lives should be limited,
- We believe that the role of government is to protect the liberty of citizens to act as they wish as long they do not infringe on the liberties of others,
- Above all, we believe in an open society of free and responsible individuals.
